Build your résumé

What is a CV?

CV stands for curriculum vitae. In some places it means the document you send for any job. In US academic hiring, it usually means a fuller record of scholarly work.

Two common uses

A job CV may be short and tailored, much like a résumé. An academic CV can include research, teaching, publications, talks, awards, and service. The right format depends on the role and the country, not on which label sounds more formal.

How to choose

Read the posting. A research fellowship may need a detailed record; a product internship may need a quick view of relevant projects. Keep a complete record for yourself, then make the version that answers this reader's questions. Label work accurately: a paper under review is not a published paper.

Using larpyourresume

The free workspace lets you edit an application document with a form or LaTeX and export a PDF. It is designed for focused résumés and job CVs, not as a specialist academic publication manager. Check a scholarly CV against your field's conventions before sending it.
